Kitamba Fellowship Job Description

<Applications Due on Sunday, May 1, 2022>

Program Timeline: Late Summer - Fall 2022

About Us

Kitamba, a part of MGT Consulting, is a social impact consulting and products firm dedicated to dramatically improving learning and life outcomes for all children.  We believe that great public schools and high-quality education have the potential to be life-changing, especially for students in underserved communities.

We partner with leaders in government, philanthropy, and other education organizations and draw on our experience in the education space to solve complex problems facing public schools and communities. We deliver customized services and products - including data, finance, and instructional tools - from initial design through the last step of execution. We are proud to have created solutions that stick for more than 15 cities and 3,000 public schools and are deeply optimistic about the promise of a great public education for all children.

About the Fellowship

The Kitamba Fellowship is a part-time 7-week paid program for Associates, Bachelors, and Master’s degree candidates. The goal of the fellowship is to expand the diversity of thinking, experiences, and identities within the social impact consulting field. The Kitamba Fellowship will launch virtually at the end of summer 2022 and continue into the early fall to accommodate student schedules. Sessions will occur after typical school and work hours (after 5 pm ET) to ensure participants can take classes or fulfill other full-time work commitments. Students will receive a stipend for their participation.

During the program, students will meet weekly (90-120 min sessions). The program will provide broad exposure to social impact consulting and Kitamba-developed tools (e.g., Bento). Sessions will cover a wide breadth of education topics and will include skill development in the following areas:

  • Conducting research and data analysis

  • Professional writing and communications

  • Foundational project management

  • Developing presentation materials (Google and Microsoft Suite)

Fellows will have an opportunity to complete a capstone project to apply the resources and skills they have learned throughout the Fellowship to a problem of practice. Through virtual mentorship opportunities, fellows will also have formal opportunities to connect with Kitamba staff and leaders from across the education sector.

  • Partnerships: We partner with communities and believe that great schools can change lives.  We identify the strengths of a community and build on them.

  • Strategic Execution, Collaboration, and Implementation: We are our clients’ running partners and believe action and execution speak louder than words.  We execute flexibly given inevitable challenges, adjustments, and course corrections that come with executing complex projects.

  • Flexible, Outcomes-Focused Culture: We seek to create an environment flexible enough for each member to achieve outcomes in the ways that make the most sense for them.

  • Entrepreneurship and Impact: We are broader than a products and consulting firm and for our team members with entrepreneurial interests, we provide a great platform for executing on new ideas.
