The Product Manager owns the product development lifecycle, beginning with ideation and discovery through development and delivery. The Product Manager represents the needs of end-customers, collaborating with the development team to create alignment between the strategic goals of the product and development releases. They work closely with internal and external stakeholders to validate problems and potential solutions. They prioritize daily work across the development team and validate the product.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to manage complicated data products and lighter-touch tools that support education organizations throughout the country. As part of a growing products team within Kitamba, the Product Manager will also help influence the direction of Kitamba’s broader product strategy.
The Product Manager will:
Define features and functionality by making requirements concrete and actionable.
Maintain and prioritize backlogs and roadmaps, collaborating with the leadership team, business analysts, project managers, UX designers, engineers, and data scientists.
Manage product releases based on projected team capacity, estimated size of features, business priorities, and support constraints.
Lead cross functional business teams through lean product discovery practices to validate and identify solutions to customer problems.
Help manage Kitamba’s product roadmap.
Assist in managing Kitamba’s web properties, as needed.
Assist in the development of contracts for development vendors.
Create business cases to drive investment decisions.
Provide transparency to stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.

A BA/BS with strong academic background, even better if you have an advanced degree.
Previous experience working as a Product Manager and relevant training. CSPO or CSM certification strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to exceed goals and have a bottom-line, action focused orientation.
The ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends and incorporate them into a product roadmap.
The capacity for managing and leading people cross functionally; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed.
Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts, strong business writing skills, strong knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software, experience with Jira product management software, effective communication skills, with an ability to share and synthesize knowledge.
A sense of humor and the ability to work in a dynamic environment a significant plus and an interest in working with an innovative company seeking to expand its focus on products.
