Chief of Staff
Come work on the cutting edge of education policy by acting as the right hand of our dynamic CEO. You will help multiply his presence by leading mission-critical projects, creating outstanding content, connecting the dots across our projects internally, and helping to shape our communications to tell our story externally. By working directly with our CEO, you will have the unique opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to lead and manage a fast-paced, big-thinking, mission-driven organization.
The Chief of Staff will have a wide range of responsibilities and must have the ability to act quickly, bring energy and initiative, and deftly multitask. Additionally, this role requires outstanding professionalism, organization and attention to detail, and a willingness to work on a wide variety of projects and tasks.
The Chief of Staff will typically spend time as follows:
Lead Mission-Critical Projects (50%)
Manage diverse array of projects from initial scope definition, to execution, to final product delivery in areas such as schools system transformation and new entrepreneurial ventures.
Manage Business Analysts by overseeing their contribution to projects and ensuring they develop new skills and professional capacities
Lead client interactions and incorporate input from multiple stakeholders to mobilize groups toward common and ambitious goals
Work with our CEO and communications staff to tell our story externally
Lead special projects as determined by our CEO
Serve as the Right Hand for the CEO (40%)
Manage the CEO’s workflow and priorities on critical projects across the rest of the organization
Follow up on behalf of the CEO on key tasks and requests from the CEO, both within the organization and externally
Serve as a point of contact and liaison within the organization for requests for the CEO
Develop content to support the CEO’s projects, including writing proposals, briefs, and creating PowerPoint visuals and slides, as appropriate
Participate in Kitamba Leadership Team (10%)
Participate in leadership team recurring calls and quarterly meetings
Provide updates for CEO-led projects in the database of existing and potential projects
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
BA/BS with strong academic background, even better if you have an advanced degree
An ability to focus on solutions and to follow through
Interest in and aptitude for handling a wide variety of responsibilities, at varying levels of complexity, in a very hands-on manner, with consistent high quality of output
Ability to craft verbal and written communication to multiple stakeholders with a keen sense of relationship-building and customer service
An ability to think strategically and anticipate future opportunities and challenges
A commitment to staying organized and paying attention to details
An ability to navigate ambiguity comfortably and meet deadlines
An ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in groups
Strong sense of confidentiality in order to handle sensitive information appropriately
Analytic and writing skills and experience with spreadsheet and presentation software
A sense of humor and ability to work in a dynamic environment
A willingness to work in New York City metro area, Washington, D.C., or California.
