Business Analysts are responsible for a discrete part of the problem solving on each project. They support project managers by anticipating and building durable and flexible work plans to ensure high quality execution of the overall project. Business Analysts play an important role on project teams: performing critical analyses, contributing to final recommendations, and presenting work to client leadership. This role is similar to a Business Analyst at McKinsey, Associate at BCG, or Associate Consultant at Bain.
Business Analysts should demonstrate the ability to:
- Support all aspects of client engagements from scope definition to delivery
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of data to generate meaningful insights
- Develop knowledge of client issues, needs, and context
- Share insights and results in an easily comprehensible manner, both in writing and through interactions with team members and clients
- Demonstrate initiative and effectively manage time and schedule
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: BA/BS from top school required with strong academic background, experience in education sector preferred but not required; real estate finance background a plus
Results: Demonstrated ability to exceed goals and a bottom-line, action focused orientation
Strategic Vision and Agility: Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends and incorporate them into a project
Leadership and Organization: Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top notch leaders from the bottom up, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed
Analytic Skills: Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts, strong business writing skills, strong knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software, experience with GIS mapping software as well as STATA or R preferred, effective communication skills with an ability to share and synthesize knowledge
Strong Interpersonal Skills: Sense of humor and ability to work in a dynamic environment a significant plus and an interest in working with an innovative company seeking to build a next generation consulting model (see this link for more information)
